Mysterious Miscellaneous Deduction from Final Paycheck

My husband recently left employment at a local company in Greensboro. He gave them a three weeks notice and seemed to be on good terms with everyone. We received his last paycheck and there was a $583.58 deduction on it labeled only Miscellaneous. We have contacted the company via phone and email and have yet to get a description as to what the deduction was for. What are our options and is this legal? Thanks so much for your help!

Deduction question

You have a good question that can be handled without paying for legal advice by calling the North Carolina Department of Labor. Try 919.807.2796. You are certainly entitled to know the basis for the deduction.
