unauthorized payroll deductions

I was released from my job without any reason or warning. When I received my final check the following week, they had deducted $500.00 for an engine I had been "paying out" per the company's agreement. I signed nothing to allow this. In fact...I never signed anything at all concerning this deduction, but it was done on each pay day for 5 or 6 months. The final deduction caused a severe hardship on my family. Do I have a right to sue?

It sounds like the company has broken the law. You may either go through the Texas Workforce Commission or sue. I suggest trying the Texas Workforce Commission first.
