Good advice from Bruce. I can only add that when you speak with an employment lawyer you should discuss whether you might be entitled to overtime pay.

Much will depend on the size of your employer and your work history. For example if the employer has 50 employees within a 75 miles radius and you have worked 1250 hours or more over the last 12 months, you are entitled to FMLA leave. It would violate the employer's legal obligations to discipline you for matters that you are entitled to take intermitent leave for, in addition you are entitled to claim a total of 12 weeks in any given 12 month period.

In essence, you need to see an employment lawyer near you and discuss these issues promptly. You can select one near you at: www.oelasmart.net/directory
