Wage Payment

The company I was working for all of a sudden closed down(They said they lost their contract) They owe me and many of the other employees 3 checks. They will not give us a clear time to when we will get paid. They give us a time then they change it.They also say that when we do get our check it will only be for this last pay period. Is this legal? And what is the time frame for a company to pay their employees after they shut down? What can I do if they do not pay?

payment

The company must pay you for the time you have worked. If it does not, you should file a claim with the Texas Workforce Commission. However, payment is not a sure thing if the company goes out of business. Technically it must pay you but there may be no money available.
