Bounced paycheck after quitting my job

I recently quit my job on January 9th. The usual payday was every 15th of the month, which came and went without my direct deposit showing up in my account. After several emails to my former employer, I finally received a check for the wages owed to me, which I promptly deposited. Several days later, the check was returned for NSF.

Part of me just wants the money I am owed, but the other part of me wants to make my former employer pay for jerking me around, if possible. What can I do?

Bounced paycheck

Employers are required by law to pay the wages owed. If your employer has still not paid you all the compensation and accrued but unused personal leave time owed, you may be able to sue for the wages, plus attorneys' fees. Plus, the law provides for additional damages for writing bad checks. If you would like to pursue this, you should consult with an attorney.
