my job was eliminated, my employer now wants me to train someone else what can I do?

I have until the end of the year to finish the reports that are due to close out this year. My employer now wants me to train the individual that will be doing the work that I had been doing. I am a professional and wish to leave in good standing however I find it very difficult to understand how they can "elliminate" my position and then ask me to train someone else. Do I have any recourse?
