legally can a employee be fired from management, then rehired 48hrs later for lesser position

Upon promotion to assistant manager by the owner, the manager protested his disapproval. a couple months later under hostile working enviroment and felt discrimination and belittlement by the manager, i finally verbally expressed my unwillingness to tollorate such behaivor to the manager and the owner. upon a argument, the manager left his shift. he returned later in the day and issued 3 write ups on one page for pettyness that occured that day. i wrote refuse to sign. (Friday) upon showing for work the following monday, he met me and stated he could not get along with me and i was fired. two days later, (wednseday) he offered me my job back with a demotion and paycut and promoted a male to assistant manager whom he had wanted promoted in the first place. There are 3 women out of 17 employees at this company and i held the only position of authority as a female. he fired me bc he couldnt get along with me in my place of authority then rehired in a lesser position. is this legal? or discrimination?
