Wrongful termination, and/or retaliation?

I gave my employers the professional courtesy of letting them know that I was looking for new employment. They then used that information to find my replacement and terminate my employment before I could find other employment, would that still be considered retaliation? is there anything else in employment laws that could help in this situation?
