With the possible exception of a circumstance where you are under physical attack, and defend yourself by kicking, it's hard to imagine a circumstance where your conduct would be legally justified. Understandable, maybe, but not justified in the eyes of the law. Your employer had the right to fire you.

Unless you are in a union or under contract for a period of time, you were an 'at will" employee, which means your employer could terminate you for any reason or no reason. Kicking a customer is usually frowned on by businesses, which would prefer its employees did not attack the customers, even if one "harrest" you. The employer was fully within the law in ending your employment, based on these facts.
