What are my options for keeping stock options and claiming unpaid wages

I am working in a tech start up in a senior position. I started in 2008 and worked without pay for some time since the company could not pay and was trying to raise money at that time. Once company was able to reaise money I got stock options and monthly salary but not the lost wages. Now company is out of cash again and say they can not pay salary to some of the employees including me till they raise more money. I am looking to see what my options could be? I prefer not to continue here in this situation? Should I resign and lose my stock options and give up claim on past salary? What are my legal claims and rights in this situation? No formal employment agreement is in place. Also looking for an attorney with whom I can discuss the details of my case.
