Do I have a case?

a little over a year ago a couple so called friends went into business together remodeling apartments. I worked for them when they needed rescued because there deadline for turnover was approaching. They complained repeatedly about the employees they were hiring. The employees would claim to no much more then they new or they were lazy, etc., etc. So now the fun part. After 2 yrs in business and 2 yrs. of wanting me to quit my full time job (onsite maintenance manager, rent free, electric free, medical, dental, vision all paid for plus about 2,200 take home a month. I live in Palo Alto Ca. where rent is way to much.) they came at me with a nice figure and promised insurance not only for me but for my girlfriend as well within one month of hire. No I didn't get this in writing. Stupid me. After 8 months of the most stressful time I have ever had in my working career of about 23 years I was fired because one of the partners can't take responsibility for her own actions. There is more to this story I am just trying to keep it short. While still employed I received text messages that are not normal. I mean unreal stuff coming from someone that owns a company and should be thought highly of. So now its been about 4 months, Oh ya she also didnt give me my final check when it was due and I have taken that to the labor board. So I get a call from the office help a couple days ago and she tells me she got fired for spreading a rumor that the boss is on drugs. Now that I have heard this it gets me thinking about all the obscene texts I used to get and all the emotional stress I went through was because this chick is high. I could go on and on. I could sure use some advice. I gave up a lot and I now stress every month trying to make ends meet.
