suspended from work without any notice, what can I do about this?

Was told I was not going to be needed at the place of work by a fellow employee not a boss. Didn't get notified by phone call or in writing to know if I was suspended or terminated.

If your manager did not tell you that you are not supposed to be working then you need to contact your boss ASAP. You may have been terminated and should file for unemployment. See more at http://www.kielichlawfirm.com/dallas-employment-lawyer-fired-unemployment-benefits/

In these situation, knowing your rights and documentation is important. Take a look at your employee handbook and read the procedures for Termination and alternative dispute resolution. Then ask your supervisor or employer in writing for clarification on your employment status. Even though in Texas, the employer is not required to provide the employee with a reason for termination, many employers do if asked.
