Is it unlawful for plaintiffs atty. to notify defendants atty. that plaintiff is prepared to notify the media if a case is not settled and continues on to trial?

Is this unlawful or unethical? I personally believe this warning would push defendants to settle the case, as well as warn them before they end up being embarrassed publicly on the news and the papers.

I do not know a good answer, some cases will never get media attention, however, in terms of an attorney doing this I would urge that you seek an opinion from someone who regularly works with the ethical and professional responsibility rules.

I know you want a simple answer, but I do not think one exists.
