is it fair for them to fire me without any warning?

Dear Mel,
My job was recently terminated by my company without any prior notice. The reason they cited is that I was not performing up to the company standards. However, I feel that I have gave my best efforts and I worked on weekends for the past 5 months just trying to get all the assignments completed. I'm an at will worker, but does it gives the company the right to fire me without any warning and just give me 1 week of pay?

short answer - yes

yes, your employer can fire you without notice, and without even good cause, unless the termination violates a statutory protection (such as discrimination, retaliation for reporting harassment, whistleblowing, etc.). that's what "at will" means.
as to your time, you did not indicate whether you are an "exempt" employee, but you may have been misclassified. if you "worked weekends" believing because you were on salary, that you were exempt from overtime laws, that may very well be false. you should check with the dept. of labor standards enforcement (in the california pages of your phone book).
if many people are being misclassified and denied overtime, it may be worthwhile for you to talk to an attorney experienced in employment law. if you are in southern california, please call me for a free phone consultation.
