Was terminated today without reason or explanation

Is there anything I can do? I think it might have been in retaliation, not sure. Would like to talk with someone before I sign anything.

It may depend on what it was retaliation for. New York is a strict employment-at-will state, with virtually no exceptions unless a termination violated either a specific law or a contract. Since there's no law that requires an employer to be fair, for example, it's not illegal to fire you for objecting to unfairness. But since there are laws against discrimination based on age, race, religion, sex, etc., it is unlawful to fire you for objecting to one of those specific kinds of discrimination.
