how long is the time frame to quit when a employer changes your work conditions and pay over an extended period of time

I was promised 600/week salary, living quarters on employers property and use of a car. For the first 12 weeks i was paid only $400/week, aprtm. and car. Finally after 2 and a half months employer began paying $600/ week as agreed but did not make up difference of $2400 that was owed to me. Shortly after first check for $600, employer started charging $200/ week for rent and use of vehicle. I protested to him that the offer of employment was$600 and apartment and car was included rent free. He told me if I didn't like it I could quit. This was not possible because if I quit, besides having no employment, I had nowhere to live and no car for transportation. I would become homeless. Over the next few weeks I tried to resolve the situation hoping the employer would stop charging me $200 but he did not. After 10 weeks of paying him the rent I decided that the only way to keep my money was not give it to him. When I got paid he came by 2 days later to collect the rent. I refused to pay it. He told me if i didnt give it to him he would call police and have me thrown off the property and if i used car he would report it stolen. I gave him the $200 and the next morning I called a cab and left the property and quit. Will I be eligible for unemployment benefits or did I wait to long to quit after he initially started charging me $200?
