What are my rights for a wrongful termination when told to take an early layoff?

My plant is closing in September. After a minor dispute I was asked to leave and take an early layoff with severance by supervisor. After over a week of calling different hr people a guy called back and said I was terminated effective today. The supervisor was exaggerating the details and if I would've known I was actually getting fired I would've fought a lot harder. What can I do? And how does this effect the unemployment I've already filed. Please help!
