What Kind of Lawyer or representation I need to force an ex-employer to pay back wages

I need to find out what kind of Lawyer I need to sue my former employer (small business) to collect back pay. I am owed about $12,000 in back pay plus W2s for about $15,000 in tax (deducted from my paystubs). I do not qualify for DOL help because I made more than $900/week and was an exempt (for over time) employee.

The employer was a staffing firm. I was a W2 employee. I did work for company's clients and reported my hours. Company owner said that the client were not paying so he will pay me as soon as client paid for my services. I approached client and found out that they paid the employer and employer is just putting me off. I contacted a couple of lawyers off of Google but they are only interested in overtime employees or class action lawsuits. This is for New York City employer.
