Terminiated After Giving Two Weeks Notice

I gave my job two weeks notice that I was leaving the company. On the day that I handed my notice and they told me to leave the company and not to return. The company handbook states that" an employee who does not give a two weeks notice, their check will be cutt to $5.15" I asked my employer would my check my cutt to $5.15 and the HR Manager said no - I asked if I could have that in writing and she said no. Is is ilegal to terminate or asked an employee to leave the company after they turn in their notice? I never encounter any problems throughout my employement with my company. Please advise...

Terminated After 2 weeks notice given

An employer can terminate you for any reason not specifically prohibited by law. There is no law that prohibits termination after you have given notice that you are quitting.

This does not sound like you have done anything wrong that merits such poor treatment. It sounds like a standard company policy to mistreat employees and I hope that you have found a new position with a more honorable employer.
