Lose severance if fired after giving notice?

My employment contract ends 11/30/20. My employer has offered an extension and have requested a decision within a couple weeks. If I turn it down and let them know I will leave the company after the current contract (effectively giving them a year’s notice) do I lose my 6 months severance should they “fire” me right away?

You might. It all depends on the terms of the contract. If you would like me to review and have a meeting to discuss your contract rights, call me office. 616.458.6814.
