Statue of limitations on being prevented from being hired by another company by a former company. No non-compete in this instance.

I recently learned a co-worker from a former employer of mine (a Hollywood studio) told the person hiring me for a new position at another company, which provides post-production services, would “pull all of their work” if this person hired me. As a result, the job offer was rescinded without explanation. Now the person who said this was not in any position of authority to make such claims. Is there a statue of limitations on such?
