Severance package and agreement release

Hello . I was laid off due to lack of work. My employer gave me a package containing the choice to receive a lump sum equivalent to 8 weeks of pay if I gave up my rights to sue and so on. I did not look a the package so I went ahead and apply for unemployment which was granted. Like a month later I decided to sign the agreement and sent it to my employer but my paperwork for unemployment was already done and submitted and I have received like 3 weeks of compensation. In the event of receiving the check which will be paid in a sum lump should I called the unemployment office and let them know about the check ?
