subsidiary severance smaller than parent corporation severance

I work in California for a subsidiary (LLC) of a large corporation located in Michigan. There have been many layoffs at the Michigan corporate offices and there was a press release stating the nice severance package offered to it's employees. A copy of the press release was also sent to all of us working at the subsidiary. They have decided to close down this subsidiary and lay off all employees but with a substantially smaller severance package. I'm wondering if they are obligated to offer us the same severance package as given to the Michigan employees at the parent corporation.
Thank you.
