Senority verses Experience

Currently I am employed at a nursing home.
1199 union. I am a certified nursing assistant as well as a certified aroma therapist.
The nursing dept has a dementia program that is lead by CNA's which I am currently sharing this postion with another CNA who has more senoirity over me.
She has filed a grievence stating she should be the only one leading this program because she has more senoirity. But I have experience I worked in recreation therapy, and prior to working here I worked in an Adult day health center, my position was program assistant, where I assisted in creating "programs" & lead activities.
So could my experience be used as reason to stay with the dementia program?
