Removed from the schedule even though I have a last week of work

I handed in my two weeks notice on the 1st due to getting a new job, but then on the 3rd I came in and discovered I was removed from the next week's schedule which should be my final week. All work weeks start on Wednesday, and end on the following Tuesday. I get paid bi-weekly and I knew that the 1st started the second week of the current pay period and knew that the 8th would start a new pay period. Even though the 8th starts a new pay period, shouldn't I still be allowed to work if it is considered my final week of work?
