Overpaid in error PTO Letter received.

I worked for the company for 7 months and used PTO in advance and got paid for it. I was planning to stay and didn’t expect a new job offer when I had used the PTO in advance. The company uses a 3rd party company to pay for wages, and this payroll company has sent me a letter requesting me to pay back the PTO hours I used in advance. The hours were approved. They state in the letter they overpay me “in error”. Do I have to pay them back even though my manager approved the hours when I was still an employee?
