My husband is having a vasectomy. Would I be able to take FMLA to care for him after the procedure?

My husband is having a vasectomy at the end of December. I have attempted to find coverage for my shifts as an RN after his procedure, but have been unsuccessful. Would I be able to take FMLA to care for him after the procedure? He won't be able to be home alone with our 3 young kids, as he will have a lifting restriction. We don't have anyone to help us with childcare on the weekends.
