Is there a violation in of a law?

I work in a volunteer Fire Department as a captain and my job duties intail ordering supplies and processing Purchase Order to the clerk for payment.

A few months ago I got a phone call about a approved order not being paid for 4 months, I followed the chain of command and reported this to the township trustees which goveren the clerk.

Since then I have been accussed of misappropriation of funds on two occurances in a public meeting without my self being present.

These type of accusations did not start happening untill after I reported the clerk not processing Purchase Orders in appropiate amounts of time.

The township cannot hold me responsible for missappropriation of funds due to the fact that I dont process payments only follow approved orders.

Is it leagal that they discuss these types of accusations in a public goverment meeting, and or can this be considered a hostile work environment from the clerk trying to relaliate against me for turning over past due accounts to the trustees.
