Is it legal for an employer to switch from hourly to salary with-out the consent of the employee?

The company which I worked for, switched from Hourly to salary so they would not have to pay overtime, without the consent of the employees that were hired on at an hourly rate, also the same company made the employees pay for their on drug test and the companys' employment test, Is this legal?

Absolutely not! This is illegal, and a willful violation of the FLSA and Illinois Minimum Wage Law, unless of course you are exempt for some other reason.
