Is an unemployment appeal worth it for havimg weeks disqualified due to being out of town?

I left my job in December to take care of my mother. I had no idea at the time how long I’d be, but did try to work things out with my employer. They were very understanding and as how distressing this was to me. They came to me to tell me I could leave immediately and they would still pay me for the month. They really needed a permanent teacher for the difficult class I was teaching. I applied in January when I was back in Los Angeles, had the phone interview and started certifying. I was disqualified for the weeks certifying due to limiting the days and times I was available to look for work. I’m pretty sure I didn’t make it clear in the interview that I was back full tim as I said I would visit her on the weekends if possible. I filed an appeal and got a letter about having a hearing. I really am nervous about that and in addition, it is going to take weeks to get a decision. I’m still able to certify for benefits. Could I just call the UI and clarify that I am back permanently? I just want the fastest route to start receiving the money as I’m completely out out of money and maxed out my credit cards. Should I withdraw the appeal and just call the,? It’s so confusing. I’ve been working since 16 and am now 51 and never had to do anything like this. I just need some help in the fastest way possible.
