Do I have same rights as colleagues if our dept. was eliminated while I was on med leave?

I have been on disability leave due to being diagnosed with Leukemia resulting in having a bone marrow transplant. During my leave, my department was eliminated and most associates were given the choice to interview for other non-related roles within the company or accept a severance package. I would like to know if I am entitled to these same choices when I return after being released from disability. I have been with the company for 23 years including disability and am concerned about forfeiting my severance if I don't speak knowledgeably. I would prefer to retire at this time with severance rather than accepting a new role where I might not perform as well as in the past. I am in Atlanta.
