Changing employment

Hi :
I informed my company sometime in middle of oct 2003 that i will not work for them from nov 15th ..Then they stopped my oct 2003 salary which was due on Nov 1st and also they never added my new born son into my group insurance ..
Seeing all this I changed company in nov 1st instead of Nov 15th ..

I work on h1b visa and I need advice regarding how to get my oct 2003 salary and should i need to consult lawyer since my previous employer is threatening about changing company ..If so what kind specialised lawyer i need to contact ?

Thanks

The Texas Workforce Commission enforces the Texas Payday Law. You have 180 days in which to file a claim with that agency (which you can do over the internet) and it will try to collect your back wages for you.

I do not understand the threat that your former employer is making. Did you sign a contract that it now says you are violating? Like a non-compete clause? If so, then you need to take that written agreement and make an appointment with a lawyer in your area who regularly represents employees.

If the threat pertains to your immigration status, then you should consult with a lawyer who practices in that field.

Ultimately, you might have to see both. But, it's important that you do so quickly.

Good luck!
