Bounced pay checks every week, what can be done to collect?

My daughter works at a restaurant (in Missouri) and for over 25 yrs, the owners have written checks to employees for payroll from several different banks (including their personal accounts) that wont cash for days to weeks or even months. When she takes them to the banks that the checks were written from the teller just tells her "sorry, I can't cash this check." She has 3 checks that she can't cash right now and has tried for 3 days. They are very well known for writing payroll checks that wont cash on payday. Many times there will be several checks written from several different banks for a weeks pay.
My daughter is afraid of being fired if she pursues the hot checks, also of not being able to keep her home from constantly being late on rent because of this.
Any advice would be very helpful. I am not sure how many employees they have because they have a very large "turnover" of employees because of this problem.
What if any can she do?
