Am I required to give a percentage to the owner of my salon for out of salon work?

I work at a commission based salon (%50 %50). I've been doing weddings for some of my clients through my salon. Am I required to give a percentage of my earnings to my employer? Some of these jobs require me to take time off for a specific day. I always make up that time by picking up another day. Sometimes these out of salon jobs fall on my day off. The only hand that the salon has in this is that the clients found me through them. If so, what do you think is a fair percentage for them to take?

It will depend on whatever contractual relationship you have with the salon owner. If you are doing the weddings as a "side job" unrelated to the salon where the clients contract with you directly for the work, and have no contract regarding the same, then you may be on safe ground in not sharing the proceeds.
