2nd severence pkg from same company

I will be laidoff as of Feb 1, 2004. I have 14.5 years with this company. I was laidoff Jan 2002 from the same company and was given a severence package (2 weeks /year). My service time was reinstaed when I was re-hired Oct 2002. If a severence package is offered, should I expect to be paid for all my service time or just the time from re-hire to now?

severance

I gather you did not have to pay back any of the severance you previouslt received when you went back. Because of that I would not think you have much chance of getting the first 12-13 years a second time. However, I would certainly not bring the subject up. Maybe you could just ask them what kind of money you should be expecting. If they say you get to "double dip", enjoy it. As for what your legal rights are, it sounds like it would be based on what their severance plan provides. And it might depend on what agreement you reached with them when you were rehired. I can recommend a good Charlotte law firm if you would like to talk to counsel. I can't advise you officially without seeing the documents. It would probably be better if you met personally with someone.
