my small team of 4 was quietly replaced by 4 new hires in a city in another state

Hello,
My small team of 4 (in a very large IT company) was quietly replaced by 4 new hires in a city in another state. We have been given 60 day notices of lay-off. The new team will be performing exactly the same duties as we now are.
I am over 50 and notice that the new hires are all under 40. Of course they did this to save on salaries, I get that, but am I wrong to assume that they should offer me the chance to relocate? They never offered me the option to move, they assumed that I would not want to.
I just told my manager that I MIGHT be willing to after I receive an official written offer to relocate. Am guessing that they will lower the salary to the lowered cost of living in this new southern city.
1) Don't they have to offer me the option of relocation?
2) Can they lower the salary legally?
3) Age discrimination - Out team is all over 40, the replacements appear to be under. Seems like a pretty good argument to me, valid?
4) The craziest thing is that we are all work from home employees (IT work), so 'relocating' us makes no sense.
