When my employer sells, is my employment contract regarding tuition void?

My employer is going to be selling in the near future. I have a contract with my current employer to stay for one year after completing my education program. If I quit or am fired for cause before the year is up, I have to pay back all tuition. When my employer sells, does my contract have to be renewed with the buyer?
