Was this fair is there something I can do about this situation?

Hello I was fired from my job last night. I told the assistant manager If I could com into work at a later time which was supposed to be 7:30. I was running later and I didn't walk into work until 8. But I had to change my clothes in my car. I walk into work and the assistant manager starts to question me as though I made up where I was. She did this while other employees were around. I offered to give her contact information to where I was and also flyers, there was also a website for the event. I was at work for 40 minutes before the manager walked into the server station. In front of everyone he stated your fired. We didn't go to his office and I didn't sign any paperwork. It was really embarrassing and unprofessional

Based on the information provided the employer acted legally. Do apply for unemployment compensation.
