This could be wrongful discharge leading to a poor severance package.

My husband worked for a company for 18 years, perfect record, always positive in sales, customers loved him. He used to win all contests the company put out there. exemplary in his position. a management position came available, he applied, interviewed and didnt get the job. a younger guy, some blemishes and suspensions on his record got the management position. he was told by general sales manager and this new manager he would never, ever obtain a management position with this company, but never stated why. He was asked if he wanted to be terminated or quit, he chose whatever would allow him to receive unemployment benefits. they sent a severance package to him and we feel with all that has gone on its a slap in the face. anything we can do to negotiate this? should we hire an attorney?

You should definitely consult an employment lawyer in Cincinnati. There are many good attorneys and you can select one through the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association.
