Statute of limitation for repayment of relocation bonus

I left a job in WA in just 4 months and my contract states that I will need to repay the prorated remainder of my relocation bonus. How long after I leave can the company ask for the repayment? I flat out asked the HR rep in email if there is anything else that I need to do before I leave, and they said no. I don't want to pay unless asked, but I want to know how long I need to hold on to the funds.
