Severance

Is it legal for an employee to receive
severance pay and wages for work performed
at the same time? The employee was terminated
and subsequently rehired as temporary, short
term employee.

Severance Pay Coincidental With Contract Wages

There's no law that prohibits an employer from terminating someone, paying him/her severance, and then using the person as a temporary worker for which it pays. It's the company's money and if it wants to pay it to the worker, great!
