My employer lied to me during the interview about getting health insurance.

During my interview my company in Santa Cruz, CA told me that health insurance would be included in my compensation package. After I started work they told me that they were changing companies and I would have to wait until that was done to get ins. I asked them if they would compensate me for it since I was paying $425 a month for ins. They told me no. Then after 6 months they laid me off never having ins. benifits or any compensation for not having those benifits. Also for the first 4 months all there employees worked 8 hour days with only a 20 min. on the clock break. Do I have a case against them?
