Laid off then position gave to someone else

I was laid off in December and was told there was no need for the Director position I held and it was being eliminated. Today they promoted my ex-associtate to the position of Director. Since it has been less than 6 months since they eliminated this position, do I have any recourse?

if it was a pretext

if the termination explanation (eliminating position) was a pretext or excuse for discrimination, retaliation or other illegal conduct, you may have recourse. you need to sit down with an attorney experienced in employment law to go over the facts of your individual case. if you are in southern california, please call me for a conference.
