Is this Relegious Discrimination?

My boss from Uncle Julio's has told me I cannot have Sundays off to attend chuch... Granted if this was told to me prior to being hired back then I would have hesitated in going back to work.. Now I have been told that our General Manager does not hire anyone who cannnot work on Sundays....If I do not work the Sundays I will be fired. Can they do this to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated, it seems I am going to have to address this issue at our coporate offices but I would like a little bit of information that will help add in my defense.

Religious Discrimination?

You really should go talk to an employment lawyer in your area. The answer to your question is "maybe." It depends on whether your employer is large enough to be covered by the law, the industry you work in and what your job is, what options you could offer (do you really need the whole day off?), what hardship the employer would encounter, etc. For general information about religious discrimination, go to www.workplacefairness.org. Then click on "Your Rights", then "Discrimination", then "Religious Discrimination."

It's important that you be polite and reasonable whenever you talk to your employer about this.

Good luck.
