Is it lawful to be terminated from a job because of what someone else did ?

I was falsely accused of taking items from place of employment (but didn't) by the owner of the company. The manager of this company knew it wasn't me, that it was another employee and had proof. I, along with the actual employee who took the items and another employee was fired because of it.
