Can they make me pay this money?

I signed an employment offer letter for a job that required me to relocate in order to accept. The offer letter indicated that company provided relocation expenses would have to be paid back if I left the job before a year of service. I want to leave 6 weeks early. Will I still have to pay back the entire amount even though I have worked almost the entire year? Is this lawful?

Payback of Relocation Expenses

The answer depends entirely on the language of the offer letter and any other contracts you may have signed. If none of that language covers the situation, you may be able to negotiate your way out, but if not, you're on the hook to pay it back.
