I was offered a severance package to leave the company. So I accepted it voluntarily. However, they are telling potential employers that I was fired. I was refused unemployment. When I found out what they were saying they told me that they did not have my severance on file.

Severance agreements and the label for a separation can be two separate issues. The first examination has to be of the Agreement itself. Contact a lawyer to go over its contents. Best of luck.
