I was demoted after 24 years of employment without any warning. My pay was drastically cut. Is this legal

I was demoted and had my pay cut substantially. No write up in my folder. A couple of months ago I sent an email to hr siting discrimination (coincidence) is there something I can do?
I was demoted from manager to sales. By the way I received nothing in writing.

Consult with a labor and employment lawyer.

Was your performance satisfactory when you were a manager? Was your team performing as management required? Were you warned or on a performance improvement plan?

Did you have an EEOC charge number or at least confirmation from your HR department that your complaint was received BEFORE any of the above may have occurred? If yes consult a lawyer.
