I was assaulted by a coworker n called 911 and then fired the next morning?

Working for the past 3 years for a retail wine and spirits shop in NYC. I was assaulted by a co worker who has been there for 12 years. She grabbed me by my shirt on the upper collar and bruised and scratched my upper chest and threatened to drag me outside. I was able to walk away from her and get upstairs where i called my General Manager and then wrote an email to my boss about the incident. I then called 911 to file the assault which is now documented. There was not manger on duty and a few eye witness who have offered to make a statement in my behalf and a video of the assault which my employer has since the entire store has cameras everywhere. He would not let me have the video not let me review it. I came in the next morning and was fired and giving my vacation pay owed to me and was told to leave. I was not giving any reason but only that he had no choice and did not want to deal with the issue and just for me to leave. He said he does not know if he will okay the unemployment benefits even after he knew i was assaulted. the other women was fired . Why should she be aloud to ruin my life and get me fired and not pay the consequences for the assault and my termination. I want to file a law suit at the store for the termination of my job and the assault by the women. I now have no job and unemployed and emotionally distressed. I was just promoted and was going to get an increase in salary and this occurred. Please help me and let me know what to do. This store is very highly well knowing and i want to know if i can let the media know about this ??
