Termination for Health Problems

I was terminated from my job today. My boss said the reason I was terminated was due to it not working out. Earlier in the morning I called out HR dept and asked about short term disability because I have to have surgery done. She said we didn't have it and she was going to talk to the boss to see what could be done. Next thing I know I am fired. Please let me know if this is legal or if I should pursue action against them. Thanks.

You may have a claim under ERISA or under the ADA. If the true reason for your termination was your inquiry, then you have a claim.
